Using Herbs To Help Heal From Miscarriage

(Written by Andrea)

So almost 5 months ago I had a miscarriage. I was in the beginning of my second trimester. It was devastating, emotionally draining, physically crazy (really, my body felt crazy), mentally exhausting... All of these emotions rolled up into one, big giant knot in my heart and throat all the time.

I had a very misconstrued understanding of the reality of having a miscarriage. For anyone who has experienced any type of birth loss.... I am so sorry. It is very hard, much harder than I had any idea.

Wasn't Getting Better

Well, after about 2 months I didn't feel like my body was really getting better. I was emotionally eating quite a bit (which didn't help things) and my hormones (thus emotions) were really out of wack. Because of having other children and understanding the ups and downs after having a baby, I could relate to what was happening, but it surprised me how strong everything was because of the loss built up on top of it all.

I decided I had to do something to straighten out my hormones, my physical body, my emotions, my brain... etc. The routine I had with herbs wasn't touching this one, I had to shake some things up a bit.

So I did some research. Because of my strong beliefs in natural medicine, I decided I would look for answers there BEFORE going to any chemical solutions.

Success!

And a solution I DID find.

They are called Adaptogens. Adaptogen herbs are plants that produce special substances that help them to adapt to the stress of their environment. Back in the 1960's Russian scientists were the first to really scientifically study these herbs. They found amazing results with people who used these herbs. Those who used them were able to handle stress much better... the adaptogens were in essence helping these people to "adapt" to life around them.

There are many articles about adaptogens, so I will reference a few articles if you want to dive into the research of it a little bit more.

I knew about adaptogen herbs, but I had never really applied them daily in my life before realizing that I needed to take them to get better physically and emotionally. The two adaptogens that really stood out to me, almost "called" to me were Ashwaganda Root and Licorice Root. Both of these herbs I had used MANY times before, but not on a daily basis with healing in mind. I had the distinct impression that I needed to take these herbs daily, morning, noon and night.

After a week I felt better, after two weeks I was starting to feel more like myself, and after a month I can't believe the difference!! Anyone who is having a hard time with stress, anxiety attacks, not handling life very well, not being able to 'adapt', healing from having a baby, having a miscarriage, from any major trauma... then USE AN ADAPTOGEN HERB DAILY and see the difference it makes in a couple of weeks.

What You Should Do

So, as a recap - start using an adaptogen each day for 7-14 days and see if you notice a difference with your ability to handle stress, your energy level, your stamina, etc. I would suggest choosing 1 or 2 of the following:

Licorice Root
Ashwaganda Root
Rhodelia Rosea
Asian Ginseng
Maca Root
Schizandra
Astragalus
Gotu Kola

There are quite a few more adaptogens, but these are the top in my mind. We are getting an herbal product ready for this! But until it is available go to your local health food store or naturopathic practitioner and ask for help in this area.

Moral of the story.... USE ADAPTOGENS. Put it HIGH in your "To Do" list. I promise.
